It Shall Turn To You For A Testimony

Luke 21:11-18

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. 13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. 16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. 18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

What is it that has been contending with you?  For so many recently, it has been literal, physical earthquakes. For others of us, there could be a spiritual shaking taking place that has dislodged mindsets, religious ways and wrecked our hiding places, exposing some things that need dealt with.

Maybe there is a famine being revealed where some things are greatly lacking in our character, virtue and integrity.  It could be that physically we are lacking the health we need or the finances to pay the bills and fill our cupboards.  Famine is a broad subject.

Perhaps it’s the pestilences. The Psalms speak of the noisome pestilence and the snare of the fowler.  These are the annoyances and offenses that come in everyday life.  Many times they ride on the air, through words and become avenues of strife, jealousy, envy and even hatreds that are contagious and can infect us as well as others  if we don’t have the right defenses.  Psalm 9:3 says that surely He will deliver us from such things.

Could it be that you’ve seen terrible things…fearful sights?  Who has laid their hands on you and taken you for judgment?

As much as it hurts, you may be the one who has been betrayed by your family or your dearest friend.  Are you feeling hated today?  I pray not but there is good news.

IT SHALL TURN TO YOU FOR A TESTIMONY!

What shall?  All of the above.  All of these things are assignments from the enemy demanding a testimony!

Seems impossible.  How can I be a testimony?

Here’s how.

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

God says, don’t even think about it! Just get it in your heart now that you won’t answer based on what you think, how you feel or according to your willingness.  You see, the adversary comes with specific weapons.  The adversary binds.  He comes with chains and fetters to isolate us and to restrict our movement.

But if we, In your patience possess ye your souls…look out! We have in our arsenal a weapon that he cannot oppose.  If we use the mouth and the wisdom God has given us, allowing His word to give testimony to His lordship through us, we are free.  Free from the guilt of having said the wrong thing.

IT SHALL TURN TO YOU FOR A TESTIMONY!

These circumstances are just begging for evidence of God! These interrogations of the enemy are an opportunity to acknowledge God all the more! That’s what a testimony is!

Lord, the world is turning to us for a testimony. Thank you for trusting us with the earthquakes, the famines, pestilences, the fearful sights and the betrayals. For putting us in a position of testimony of You in this earth. In light of this, I am so aware of how I have failed in this but my prayer is, make me a testimony again.  Let there be opportunity to testify of how You are altogether good!  Thank you for the patience to possess my soul!  I love you Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!

The Dead Man’s Float

John 10:18 “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.”

Reading this, I am reminded that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us and the things that Christ did, we can do also. If He could lay down His life, so can we.

We have the power to lay down every opinion, every judgment and every offense. We can choose to die to words that would otherwise kill us if we allowed them the power. A dead man can’t hold another man’s words against him! And a dead man is not subject to another man’s opinion of him. The choice is ours.

When we are dead, no weapon formed against us can prosper.

We can die to striving to be right because we are righteous in Him!  We can even choose to be wrong.

We can die to feeling rejected because the life we have taken up in Jesus Christ is holy! We are made separate unto Him and are accepted always in Him.

We can die to having the last word or having revenge because mercy and goodness are on assignment to follow us all the days of our life.  We lead mercy to those who need it most and make way for the goodness of God that leads men to repentance.

We can die to having to do everything right and being what everyone around us thinks we should be. We can die to expecting others to be what we think they should be, should have said or should have done! If we chose to die, the letter of the law cannot kill us or anyone we love.

We can die to what we want, our own plans and motives. And I believe that every call of God is meant to operate only in resurrection power. From apostleship to the ministry of helps, those are offices that only a dead man can fill. Whether it’s being a spouse, a parent, a friend…we can’t be those things without first having died to ourself.

Honestly, I’m not the wife I want to be. I’m not the mother I want to be and I’m not the friend that I want to be. But I can be.

I had a vision a few weeks ago while in prayer. It was in the Ezekiel 47 river and it was past the ankles. Past the knees. Past swimming. I had gone to the brink and I was in the river doing the dead man’s float. Now, normally, I would be panic stricken face down in the water but I have never felt more alive. I was free. He was carrying me on the currents of His love and His plans for me. When you’re dead, you can’t fight the current.

Things have been killing me lately. So be it! I want to do the dead man’s float.
